frequently asked questions

CanvasPic / AcoustiPic

  • The short answer is the bigger the AcoustiPic panel and the more of them that you have in the room, the greater the level of reverb reduction you will experience.

It’s very difficult to put an actual number on the level of reverb reduction to expect because every room varies by size, shape, surface materials, furnishings, etc.

However, focusing on just the sound-absorbing mineral wool used in AcoustiPic panels, it uses highly dense, non-directional fibres and an open porous structure; trapping and preventing sound waves from traveling through it. It is Quiet Mark™ approved and has an approved document E (resistance to sound) rating in UK Building Regulations (introduced in 2003).

  • Generally, the larger AcoustiPic panel and the more of them that you have in the room, the greater the level of reverb reduction you will experience.

You may have heard of companies offering extremely detailed (and expensive) acoustic surveys. Unless you are a music venue or a recording studio that is looking to address specific audio frequency imbalances, our advice would be that such a survey is not necessary. You already know that you have a reverb problem (because of the difficulty in hearing clearly), therefore our recommendation is to save your money and put it towards fixing the problem with AcoustiPic panels.

  • Our standard sizes are:

    • Large (240cm x 120cm)

    • Medium (120cm x 60cm)

    • Small (80cm x 80cm x 6cm)

Alternatively, we can supply panels in a custom size between 80cm and 300cm in either direction. You can request a quotation for your custom-size CanvasPic or AcoustiPic panel here.

  • You can have any image you like on a CanvasPic or AcoustiPic panel. For example, it could be an inspirational piece of artwork for your workplace, a picture of food & drink for your restaurant, or a family photograph for your home.

If you need a little bit of inspiration, then may we suggest you take a look at some of the many excellent websites that offer royalty free pictures (sometimes an attribution is required) here:

Alternatively, why not make use of our Artwork Sourcing Service whereby we will source and license a picture for you based upon your requirements.

  • You can either send the artwork to us digitally (see artwork guidelines in the FAQ section), or you can make use of our Artwork Sourcing Service whereby we will source and license a picture for you based upon your requirements.

  • Image Type

We can accept two types of image formats: vector-based (file extensions such as .ai, .eps, .svg, etc.) and rasterised (file extensions such as .png, .jpg, .bmp, etc.).

Where possible, it is always better to supply us with vector-based images as these can be scaled to any size without loss of image quality. However, rasterised (bitmap) images will work just fine providing they meet the minimum resolution guidelines below.

    Rasterised Image (Bitmap) Resolution

If you are supplying us with a rasterised image, please ensure that the resolution is as high as possible and that the level of compression used is as low as possible to retain as much colour information and detail as possible. This is especially important for large prints for both CanvasPic and AcoustiPic panels.

Working on the basis of 1:1 (digital image size to panel size) your images should be supplied to us with a minimum resolution of 100dpi. Please note that your image will need to be extended by 20cm beyond the dimensions of your chosen panel size to allow for the wrap-around edges. For example, a standard size large small CanvasPic and AcoustiPic panel measures 80cm x 80cm, therefore the image you supply to us will need to be 100cm x 100cm.

    Colour Profile

Please supply your artwork to us in a CMYK colour profile where possible (best for printing). If you are not able to supply your image in a CMYK colour profile, we will convert it for you free of charge. NB: Colours will vary slightly when converting from a non-CMYK colour profile such as RGB (for screens) to CMYK.

NB: We will in due course make Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator templates available to help you prepare your artwork in accordance with these guidelines.

  • Yes. You can choose to hang your CanvasPic or AcoustiPic panel in the appropriate orientation for your wall space (either landscape or portrait). Your CanvasPic panel will be supplied with sawtooth hanging brackets for easy hanging.

  • Yes. You can position any number of CanvasPic or AcoustiPic panels side-by-side to create a polyptych arrangement (a single image comprised of multiple panels).

NB: You may have a single piece of artwork that you would like to span multiple panels. Please consider using our Artwork Preparation Service to ensure that your artwork is ‘split’ optimally so as to provide seamless continuity across multiple panels.

  • All CanvasPic panels are supplied with sawtooth hanging brackets for easy hanging on the wall. The panels are generally light-weight:

    • Small CanvasPic: 4.5Kg (80cm x 80cm)

    • Medium CanvasPic: 5.5Kg (120cm x 60cm)

    • Large CanvasPic: 11Kg (240cm x 120cm)

If hanging on plasterboard or drywall, we recommend the use of 3M CLAW™ picture hooks which simply press into the wall without the need for any drilling. If hanging on a masonry wall, we recommend raw plugs and screws.

NB: Depending upon the size of certain custom-sized panels (up to 3000mm x 3000mm x 120mm), a mechanical fixing may be necessary owing to the increased weight of the panel.

  • All AcoustiPic panels are supplied with a French cleat heavy-duty Z hanger system for ‘near flush’ mounting on the wall. The panels are generally mid-weight:

    • Small AcoustiPic: 6.5Kg (80cm x 80cm)

    • Medium AcoustiPic: 7.5Kg (120cm x 60cm)

    • Large AcoustiPic: 21Kg (240cm x 120cm)

When mounting the supplied bracket on the wall, please ensure that you use fixings suitable for the type of wall, e.g. plasterboard / drywall, masonry etc.

  • We make every effort to be as environmentally friendly as possible across all of the products and services that we offer.

Our CanvasPic and AcoustiPic panels are made from FSC® certified timber (Forest Stewardship Council). The sound-absorbing mineral wool we use in AcoustiPic panels is produced from sustainable, renewable volcanic rock made in factories that up-cycle waste materials, recycle their waste in closed loops, and design products for long life and indefinite recycling.

The canvas we use for CanvasPic panels is a high quality PVC-free polyester coated fabric. The canvas we use for AcoustiPic panels is eco-friendly and is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 class 4 certified, meaning that it is free from harmful substances.

We are big proponents of electrification when it comes to transportation. Our electric vehicle (which is sometimes used for deliveries) uses electricity that has been renewably generated, i.e. no fossil fuels.

NB: We are currently evaluating delivery companies that align with our views on electrification / renewable energy.

  • This varies on the size of the order, whether custom sizes are required, and the level of preparation needed for the artwork. That said, we typically aim to turn orders around within 4 working weeks (based on UK public holidays).

MoVE

  • Easy! We designed MoVE from the outset to be easily manoeuvrable so that you don’t have to stick with a single position for your coffee table.

Simply release the castor brakes, push MoVE into position, and then reapply the brakes.

The effort needed to manoeuvre your table will vary depending upon the floor surface type and size of your table (and thus weight). However, in our experience all sizes of MoVE can be positioned with ease on both hard and carpeted / rug adorned floors.

  • Anything you want! Common requests are for a chessboard pattern, house name / number or for a company logo.

We have a standard chess board pattern that our glass supplier has approved, therefore we can easily provide this for you. For bespoke motifs, e.g. house name / number, company logo etc. you will need to supply us with your design (ideally in a vector format so that it can be scaled without loss of resolution). If you are unsure or are not able to do this, then you can make use of our artwork enhancement service to do this for you.

  • Your MoVE will arrive in 3 boxes (for weight / ease of handling purposes):

Box 1: Carcass with the drawer box already installed

Box 2: Castors + Glass Supports + Assembly / Care Instructions

    Box 3: Glass top

In an effort to reduce our carbon footprint, we encourage you to return your MoVE’s packaging to us (free of charge with the pre-printed label) so that we can re-use it.

  • The castors need to be hand tightened into the underside of the carcass, and the supports for the glass need to be hand-tightened into the top of the carcass ready to receive the glass…

…the glass simply has to be rested on the supports and then clamped into position with the supplied clamps and tool.

The entire unboxing and installation procedure for MoVE typically takes 10-15 mins.
