The frustration of not being able to hear clearly when in offices, restaurants, cafés, bars and homes, is generally NOT because your ears are malfunctioning. To the contrary, what you will often be experiencing are unwanted levels of ‘reverb’eration (echo) from sound bouncing off hard surfaces such as floors, ceilings, walls, doors, windows, furniture, etc.
Sound reaches our ears in 3 phases:
i Direct Sound (the good stuff)
ii Early Reflections (we can cope)
iii Reverb (ugh, the unwanted echos)
As we try to talk louder over the noise, or we turn the TV / radio up, we are not fixing the problem - we are making it worse by generating even more reverb.

So you’ve found the ideal picture, but there’s something not quite right with it - maybe there’s an unwanted artefact in shot, e.g. a power line, person, building etc? No problem - use our Artwork Enhancement Service and we will make them disappear as if by magic! We can also overlay your picture with text such as a description, where and when it was taken, who by etc. as part of our Artwork Enhancement Service.
Handmade in the UK
Your chosen picture is professionally printed onto an acoustically transparent (lets sound through) eco-friendly fabric that’s OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 class 4 certified (free from harmful substances). We then stretch it over a handmade frame constructed from FSC® certified timber. We personally select each length of timber before mitring them together as well as adding stretcher bars and corner joints for maximum strength.
It’s all gone quiet over there
We fill the frame with a sound-absorbing mineral wool slab that is Quiet Mark™ approved and has an approved document E (resistance to sound) rating in UK Building Regulations (introduced in 2003). We then add a backing membrane before neatly taping the edges on the reverse (even though they won’t be seen we like to do things properly).
It’s all in the d-tail
Only once we happy with the quality of the finished product do we add our laser-cut metal logo. This is our seal of approval that your AcoustiPic has been built to exacting standards and is ready to adorn the world as another fine + practical furnishing from d-tail design.
